He completed his General Surgery training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and his Orthopaedic Residency at the State University of New York, Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Following his residency, Dr. Silverman undertook a combined microsurgery/hand and upper extremity fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami.

Dr. Silverman is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has performed over 6,000 orthopedic surgeries. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society of Surgery of the Hand, and the International Academy of Independent Medical Examiners. He began his career in public service as a commissioned dental officer in the United States Public Health Service, providing care at the Osage Indian Clinic in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He then joined the United States Air Force, serving at Kirtland AFB in New Mexico and RAF Upper Heyford in England.

In 1992, Dr. Alkire pursued advanced education at West Virginia University, where he obtained a specialty certificate in Orthodontics and a Master’s Degree in Dental Science.
